Job Title: Lecturer in BSc Sports Therapy

Location: Portobello Institute, Dublin 1, Co. Dublin
Job Type: Full-Time or Fixed-Term (8+ months)
Start Date: 1st September 2026
Application Deadline: 7th August 2026
Salary: €500–€3,000 (block payment basis details available on request)
Schedule: Weekday (day shift) and/or weekend blended delivery
Work Location: On-site in Dublin 1

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Lecturer to join our academic team to deliver on our BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy programme. The successful candidate will bring both practical and academic expertise, contributing to our learner-centred, research-informed teaching strategy.

This role includes delivery across both full-time weekday and blended weekend formats. We welcome applications from professionals seeking fixed-term or longer-term opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions.
Design and grade assessments in line with university and institutional standards, including first and second marking.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support academic development.
Facilitate online learner engagement via our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), including discussion boards and module updates.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date module content, incorporating contemporary developments in the field.
Respond promptly to student queries related to your modules.
Contribute to curriculum development, academic quality assurance processes, and programme review.
Support student retention and progression through active engagement and academic mentoring.
Participate in academic meetings, committees, and continuous professional development.
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching quality and uphold accreditation standards.

Essential Criteria

A postgraduate qualification in Sports Therapy, Rehabilitation, Sports Science, or a related field (Master’s required; PhD preferred).
A minimum of two years’ teaching experience in higher education or equivalent experience in professional training.
Current or recent clinical or applied experience in sports therapy or rehabilitation.
Proven ability to teach both theoretical and practical components of Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation.
Familiarity with curriculum requirements and professional standards relevant to sports therapy and/or rehabilitation.

Desirable Attributes

Experience supporting students through blended learning models.
BASRaT or ARTI registered.
An understanding of inclusive and accessible teaching practices.
Evidence of professional development or contribution to research-informed teaching.
An ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic academic team.
Commitment to fostering a positive learning experience for a diverse student body.

Additional Information

Payment is made on a block/module basis, not hourly.
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in Ireland.
Applicants must be able to reliably commute to Dublin 1 or be willing to relocate prior to the start date.
