We have an opportunity for an Junior Data Scientist – Insights & Strategy to join Musgrave, supporting the Insights & Strategy team while being connected to the wider Advanced Analytics Hub.

***Please note that this role is a 12 month contract role and is a hybrid working role (3 days on site)

The role:

This role will help transform insight into intelligence. It is a unique role and opportunity to work at the intersection of Consumer Insight, Customer Analytics and Data Science. This role will connect wider consumer perceptions, market dynamics, external signals and customer behaviours to help the business better understand what is happening today and what is likely to happen next.

The successful candidate will be embedded within the Insights & Strategy team, while also being part of the Advanced Analytics Hub for coaching, technical development and best practice.

This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is passionate about combining analytics, research, storytelling and emerging AI capabilities to generate insight that influences strategic decisions.

What you’ll be doing

Act as a data and analytics champion within the Insights & Strategy team, helping enhance analytical approaches, storytelling and insight generation.
Identify data gaps and opportunities to strengthen consumer and market understanding through additional data sources.
Help connect the Insights & Strategy team to emerging analytics capabilities, tools and developments within the Advanced Analytics Hub.
Connect consumer research, customer behaviour and market data to generate actionable insight.
Combine internal and external data sources to identify emerging trends, opportunities and risks.
Apply analytical and statistical techniques to understand behaviours, quantify opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
Process, cleanse and validate data to ensure analysis is robust and reliable.
Develop foresight capabilities that help predict future consumer and customer trends.
Deliver ad-hoc analysis and translate findings into clear recommendations, presentations and data stories.
Explore AI and emerging technologies to enhance insight generation and knowledge discovery.

What we’re looking for:

Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Business Analytics or Computer Science.
Experience applying analytics through academic, internship or early-career projects.
Working knowledge of SQL and Python.
Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with, manipulating and analysing data.
Curiosity about consumer behaviour, business strategy and the role of data in decision-making.
Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take ownership.
Interest in retail, FMCG and customer analytics

Desireable

Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar.
Exposure to consumer insight, behavioural analytics or market research.
Knowledge of AI, machine learning or predictive analytics techniques.
