The Limerick Strand Hotel, a member of the MHL Collection, is seeking an Accounts Assistant (Accounts Payable) to join our team and contribute to our financial operations.

Objective of the Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Assistant will provide support to the Assistant Financial Controller and the Hotel Management team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance of the hotel’s purchasing system, reconciliation of creditor statements and dealing with supplier queries.
Safeguard the assets of the hotel with particular emphasis on the maintenance of sound internal control systems.
Collect invoices from vendors.
Check that invoices are complete, accurate, and properly authorized.
Match invoices with purchase orders (POs) and goods received notes (GRNs).
Enter approved invoices into the accounting system.
Assign the correct general ledger (GL) accounts and cost centers.
Ensure invoices are recorded in the correct accounting period.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate accounting experience, preferably in a hospitality, food & beverage environment or within the retail sector.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
We are looking for an ambitious, confident and professional individual with strong communication, organisational and analytical skills.
Experience with credit control and purchasing ledger.
Strong IT skills in implementing and operating accounting software.
Experience with Opera and Micropay an advantage.
Full working knowledge of Microsoft excel, outlook and word
Ability to work to tight deadlines, excellent attention to detail, have high initiative and be result focused with an ability to prioritise tasks.
Assist with projects as required.
