Objective of the Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Assistant will provide support to the Assistant Financial Controller and the Hotel Management team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintenance of the hotel’s purchasing system, reconciliation of creditor statements and dealing with supplier queries.
- Safeguard the assets of the hotel with particular emphasis on the maintenance of sound internal control systems.
- Collect invoices from vendors.
- Check that invoices are complete, accurate, and properly authorized.
- Match invoices with purchase orders (POs) and goods received notes (GRNs).
- Enter approved invoices into the accounting system.
- Assign the correct general ledger (GL) accounts and cost centers.
- Ensure invoices are recorded in the correct accounting period.
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate accounting experience, preferably in a hospitality, food & beverage environment or within the retail sector.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- We are looking for an ambitious, confident and professional individual with strong communication, organisational and analytical skills.
- Experience with credit control and purchasing ledger.
- Strong IT skills in implementing and operating accounting software.
- Experience with Opera and Micropay an advantage.
- Full working knowledge of Microsoft excel, outlook and word
- Ability to work to tight deadlines, excellent attention to detail, have high initiative and be result focused with an ability to prioritise tasks.
- Assist with projects as required.
