The position on offer is part time, 10 hours per week.
Work Schedule and Hours
10 hours per week.
Tuesday and Saturday are preferable
The position offers a flexible schedule based on the member’s needs. This may include daytime, evening, weekend, and occasional holiday shifts. Specific hours and days will be outlined in the service agreement.
The purpose of this role is to provide person-centered supportto enable a Woman with a disability to live as independentlyas possible. This will include personal care, domestic assistance, social and educational support, companionship, and transportation, tailored to the person’s specific needs.
Key Relationships
You will collaborate with the person availing of our services and their family, fellow assistants (if applicable), and relevant Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) staff, including service coordinators and administrative teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
Facilitate the member’sparticipation in social, educational, and community activities, Supporting them as directed.
Support the member during medical appointments, meetings, and social events.
Drive the member’s vehicle
Participate in mandatory trainingprovided by IWA, including manual handling and safeguarding
Assist with personal care tasks,including showering, grooming, dressing, toileting, and transfers using appropriate equipment (e.g., hoist).
Be available for occasional additional hours to cover shifts during holidays, sick leave, or unforeseen circumstances.
Maintain confidentialityand demonstrate discretion in all interactions with the individual and their family.
Adhere to all organisational policiesand participate in required training, such as manual handling, safeguarding, and health and safety protocols.
Full, clean driver’s license required.
Ability to drive a manual car.

Essential Requirements:

Reliable, flexible, and committed to delivering high-quality support.
Fluency in English (spoken and written).
Legal right to work in Ireland
Willingness to undergo Garda vetting and complete mandatory training before commencing work.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
QQI/FETAC Level 5 in Community Health Services, Health Service Skills, or Healthcare Support (or equivalent).
Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Basic knowledge of technology to assist with daily tasks

Remuneration and Benefits
The current pay scale is subject to a 9.25% pay increase over the next 2 years (2025 upto October 2026), aligning with the recent WRC agreement aimed at enhancing pay adjustments within Section 39 organizations.
Starting rate: €16.22 - €18.03 per hour (depending on experience).
Premium rates for antisocial hours, Sundays, and public holidays.
Mileage reimbursement for inter-member travel.
