Social Care Worker

Separated Children Seeking International Protection

Location: Rathmines, Dublin

Contract: Full-time / Permanent (Shift Work)

Hours: 36-48 per week

Starting Rate: €18.19 (Negotiable DOE)

We are looking for compassionate, motivated and resilient Social Care Workers who share our commitment to delivering exceptional care through trauma-informed, child-centred and rights-based practice. If you are passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of vulnerable young people, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

As a Social Care Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing and therapeutic home environment where young people develop independence and achieve positive outcomes.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support young people with their daily lives, education, health, emotional wellbeing and integration into their local communities while promoting their rights, identity and cultural heritage.

Key Responsibilities

● Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.

● Deliver high-quality, child-centred care in accordance with individual Placement Plans and Care Plans.

● Promote children's rights, participation and independence.

● Support young people with education, health appointments, life skills and recreational activities.

● Maintain a safe, nurturing and therapeutic home environment.

● Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour using trauma-informed approaches and positive behaviour support.

● Identify and report safeguarding concerns in line with Children's First and organisational policies.

● Complete accurate, objective and timely daily recordings and reports.

● Participate in house meetings, team meetings, supervision and training.

● Work collaboratively with Social Workers, schools, healthcare professionals and external agencies.

● Contribute to continuous quality improvement and inspection readiness.

● Participate in the staff rota, including evenings, weekends, sleepovers and public holidays where required.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

● A recognised Social Care qualification or

● A recognised Social Care qualification or a qualification in a related and relevant discipline recognised

● CORU registered

● 2 years’ experience Minimum

● Applicants must also demonstrate:

- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.

- Excellent knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.

- Experience supervising, mentoring and developing staff.

- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

- A commitment to child-centred, rights-based and trauma-informed practice.

● Eligibility to work in Ireland.

● Satisfactory Garda Vetting.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

● Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

● Good report writing and recording skills.

● Strong professional boundaries and emotional resilience.
