About the Role
The Senior Instructional Designer (SID) is a valued member of the Learning & Development (L&D) team, responsible for leading the design, development, and continuous improvement of engaging, learner-centred learning solutions. The role partners with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to analyse learning needs, recommend appropriate learning strategies, and develop scalable digital learning solutions that support business objectives, employee growth and performance outcomes.
The SID applies established instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles and learning theories to design and develop engaging digital learning experiences, with a primary focus on eLearning solutions. The role leverages learning technologies and authoring tools to create interactive, learner-centred content while also while also developing complementary learning resources that help employees apply learning on the job.
As a key representative of the L&D function, the SID acts as a champion for learning excellence, delivering high-quality, professional and service-oriented solutions that enhance the employee experience. The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced, global environment. Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead the design and development of engaging eLearning solutions by identifying learning objectives and applying instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles and learning theories to create effective learning content, activities and assessments.

Design, develop and maintain interactive eLearning modules using Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise) and other approved eLearning authoring and multimedia development tools.

Partner with stakeholders and SMEs to conduct learning needs analyses, identify performance gaps and recommend appropriate learning solutions aligned with business objectives.

Translate complex, technical or specialised content into engaging, learner-centred digital learning experiences that support knowledge transfer and performance improvement.

Lead the end-to-end eLearning development lifecycle, including analysis, storyboarding, content development, review cycles, quality assurance, publication and ongoing maintenance.

Ensure learning solutions are engaging, accessible, visually effective and aligned with organisational learning standards, user experience (UX) principles and brand guidelines.

Develop complementary learning resources including learner guides, job aids, assessments, infographics and performance support materials, to support learning transfer and application.

Apply best practices in digital learning, UX, accessibility and visual design to enhance learner engagement and overall learning effectiveness.

Establish, maintain and promote instructional design standards, development processes and quality assurance practices across learning initiatives.

Provide guidance, coaching and support to SMEs, stakeholders and less experienced learning professionals on instructional design principles and digital learning best practices.

Upload, administer, maintain and monitor digital learning content within the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring an effective learner experience.

Evaluate the effectiveness of learning solutions through learner feedback, assessment results and available data, making recommendations to improve learning outcomes and business impact.

Review and continuously improve existing eLearning courses and digital learning assets to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with changing business needs.

Manage multiple learning projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and ensuring delivery of high-quality solutions within agreed timelines.

Stay current with emerging instructional design trends, learning technologies and digital learning best practices, identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.

Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, acting as a trusted advisor on learning design and digital learning solutions.

Act in accordance with legal, regulatory, compliance and internal risk management requirements, including adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
EXPERIENCE
What You Bring
In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification and/or relevant professional experience) in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or a related field.

Minimum 5 years' experience in Instructional Design or Digital Learning with significant experience designing, developing and evaluating eLearning solutions.

Advanced expertise in instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles and learning theories, with the ability to apply them to complex learning and performance challenges.

Advanced proficiency in Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise) or equivalent eLearning authoring tools, with demonstrated experience developing engaging, interactive digital learning solutions.

Experience leading the end-to-end eLearning development lifecycle, including storyboarding, content development, stakeholder review, quality assurance, publishing and maintenance.

Experience conducting learning needs analyses and partnering with stakeholders to identify performance gaps and recommend appropriate learning solutions.

Strong understanding of eLearning best practices, including learner engagement, UX, accessibility, visual design and adult learning principles.

Strong visual design skills with an eye for layout, consistency, branding and the overall learner experience.

Experience developing complementary learning resources such as learner guides, job aids, assessments, infographics and performance support materials.

Familiarity with LMS and experience uploading, administering, maintaining and reporting on digital learning content.

Experience using multimedia development tools including video, image and graphic editing software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite or similar applications).

Experience evaluating learning effectiveness and using learner feedback, assessment data and business insights to drive continuous improvement.

Strong stakeholder management, consulting and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.

Experience managing multiple learning projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines, quality standards and business requirements.

Ability to establish and promote instructional design standards, quality assurance processes and best practices.

Experience coaching and guiding SMEs, stakeholders or less experienced learning professionals on instructional design and digital learning approaches.
