Facilities Site Engineer - Ireland
Position Overview
- Operational management, maintenance, and optimization of building systems across Irish portfolio
- Hands-on technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems required
- Focus on optimal performance, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance
Key Responsibilities
Systems Management & Maintenance
- Oversee operation and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and building automation systems
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance scheduling
- Coordinate reactive maintenance activities
- Monitor building performance metrics and implement optimization strategies
Technical Project Leadership
- Lead facilities improvement projects from conception through completion
- Manage system upgrades, retrofits, and new installations
- Prepare technical specifications and manage contractor relationships
- Ensure compliance with Irish building regulations and industry standards
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external service providers
Compliance & Safety Management
- Ensure full compliance with Irish health and safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards
- Maintain comprehensive maintenance records
- Conduct safety audits and manage statutory inspections and certifications
- Implement and monitor safety protocols for all facilities operations
Strategic Planning & Reporting
- Develop annual maintenance budgets and capital expenditure plans
- Prepare detailed technical reports on building performance and maintenance activities
- Provide improvement recommendations for senior management
- Analyze operational data to identify cost reduction and performance enhancement opportunities
Essential Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (mandatory)
- Professional registration or working toward chartered status with Engineers Ireland (preferred)
- Relevant facilities management certifications (advantageous)
Technical Expertise
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in building services engineering or facilities management
- Comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical systems (HVAC, power distribution, lighting, BMS)
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings, specifications, and system documentation
Regulatory Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of Irish building regulations and health and safety legislation
- Understanding of energy management principles and sustainability practices
- Familiarity with statutory inspection requirements and certification processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building management systems (BMS)
- Previous experience in commercial facilities or GMP facilities environment
