Full job description

The Serge teams in Ireland work with pastors and ministry leaders across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Together, they engage in facilitative church planting, along with running the Irish apprenticeship program (an 18-24 month cross-cultural ministry experience) and the internship program (a 2-month summer program for Irish and American college students).

The teams are seeking a Serge Apprenticeship Staff member to actively participate in this facilitative church planting work while providing crucial support to the Serge Apprenticeship leaders. In this role, you will be responsible for training, discipling, and caring for Serge apprentices and interns, nurturing the next generation of ministry workers.

Responsibilities:

As a Serge Apprenticeship Staff member, you will assist the program leaders in the following areas:

Supervise apprentices as they engage in their ministry placements, providing guidance and support
Individually mentor and disciple apprentices, nurturing their faith and helping them develop their ministry skills
Facilitate teaching sessions based on the Serge apprenticeship curriculum
Prioritize and lead prayer initiatives
Help staff the Irish 2-month summer internship program, Encounter
Fulfill administrative responsibilities related to job and team tasks
Collaborate with other teammates on the Ireland Apprenticeship Team and broader Serge Ireland teams
Dedicate significant service to local facilitative church work, working independently to foster positive church relationships

Requirements and Critical Qualities:

Previous experience in a leadership role
Ministry experience; fielded missionary experience a plus
A passion for and experience with discipleship and mentoring
Familiarity with the grace-based concepts articulated by reformed theology and practiced by Serge
Prior teaching experience is preferred, or a willingness to learn
Adaptability and flexibility to handle diverse tasks and responsibilities
Proven ability to take initiative and be a self-starter when managing tasks and projects
Strong networking skills are beneficial, or a willingness to learn
Competence in handling administrative tasks
Must be committed to the local church and willing to submit to Irish ministry leadership, even of different denominations and sexes
A learner’s posture: teachable, and curious
A hospitable and servant-minded attitude that fosters positive relationships within the team and with external partners

Support Raising:

The person in this role raises their full financial support for salary, ministry expenses, and benefits.
When you are appointed to go with Serge, you are assigned a support coach who will guide you step-by-step through the entire support-raising process.
