Job Description – CNM / CMM (Clinical Nurse Manager / Clinical Midwife Manager) Swords Role Purpose:

The Fertility Nursing and Midwifery Manager is responsible for the leadership, organisation, and delivery of high-quality nursing and midwifery services within Sims IVF Swords.

The post holder will oversee clinical operations, patient pathways, workforce management, and quality standards within the nursing department, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centred care in line with regulatory, professional, and organisational standards.

The Nursing and Midwifery Manager will work closely with the Group Director of Nursing and Clinical Services to support the strategic and operational objectives of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Operations Management

· Oversee fertility cycle management and ensure efficient coordination of patient treatment plans and pathways.

· Lead and support the management of complex clinical cases in collaboration with the multidisciplinary medical team.

· Manage and oversee the Egg Donation Programme, ensuring safe, ethical, compliant, and efficient service delivery.

· Provide operational oversight of the Oncology and Fertility Preservation Programme, ensuring compassionate and timely patient care.

· Participate in clinical activities as required to support service delivery and patient care standards.

· Weekly reporting of cycle numbers at operations meetings and to finance spreadsheet

· Monitoring cycle outcomes an ensure accurate data collection.

Patient Experience and Complaints Management

· Ensure the delivery of high standards of patient care, communication, and emotional support throughout all treatment pathways.

· Manage and respond to patient complaints and concerns in a timely, professional, and solution-focused manner.

· Attend and contribute to quality meetings and clinical case reviews as required.

· Promote and monitor patient feedback and patient experience initiatives, including data collection and quality improvement measures.

Workforce Planning and Staff Management

· Lead rostering and ensure appropriate day-to-day staffing cover across all departments and clinic locations as required.

· Conduct annual Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) with staff and support ongoing performance management processes.

· Identify and support education, professional development, and training requirements within the nursing department.

· Manage staff leave requests and Cezanne.

· Take part in the recruitment and onboarding of staff matters and workforce planning within your department alongside HR / DON.

· Monitor staffing levels and headcount to ensure safe and efficient service provision.

Quality, Governance and Compliance

· Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and professional standards, including those set by the Health Products Regulatory Authority, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, and CHKS accreditation requirements.

· Maintain, review, and oversee Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring updates are implemented in line with best practice and service developments.

· Lead non-conformance reporting processes and ensure appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented.

· Participate in regulatory inspections, including HPRA inspections, and support audit preparation and follow-up actions.

· Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical governance.

Service Development and Education

· Support and participate in marketing initiatives, patient education programmes, corporate talks, and external engagement activities.

· Assist the Group Director of Nursing (DON) with service development and operational improvement initiatives.

· Support Medical Directors and Clinical Leads in the implementation of new services, clinical pathways, and operational updates.

· Contribute to the integration of new technologies, systems, and service enhancements across the organisation.

Multidisciplinary Coordination

· Liaise closely with the laboratory team regarding treatment schedules, procedures, and cycle planning to ensure seamless coordination of care.

· Coordinate with the medical team to align patient management plans, clinical scheduling, and operational workflows.

· Work collaboratively with the DON and Nursing Managers across the group to ensure excellence in clinical care and patient experience.

Essential Requirements

· Registered General Nurse and/or Midwife with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

· Significant post-registration clinical experience, experience in a leadership or management role desirable.

· Experience in fertility, gynaecology, women’s health, or reproductive medicine including ultrasound scanning and fertility treatment scheduling.

· Strong knowledge of clinical governance, regulatory compliance, and quality management systems.

· Excellent leadership, organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

· Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.

· Fluency in English language. Advanced level written and verbal.
