Roots Kitchen is a vibrant and busy catering company based in Cork, specializing in creating high-quality, seasonal, and locally-sourced dishes for a diverse range of clients. From corporate events to private parties, and daily meal prep services, our focus is on delivering fresh, innovative, and delicious food that reflects our passion for culinary excellence.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, creative, and dedicated Chef to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working as part of a team, using fresh ingredients, and has a passion for developing unique menus that delight our clients. As a key member of the kitchen team, you will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of dishes, ensuring high standards of food quality, and contributing to the overall success of our catering services.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes within the company’s standards.
Collaborate with the Head Chef and kitchen team to develop and execute seasonal menus.
Manage food inventory, including ordering and stock control, to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently.
Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards, maintaining consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Assist with the planning and execution of catered events, ensuring client satisfaction.
Stay updated on industry trends, and incorporate new techniques and ideas into the menu offerings.
Manage kitchen operations during busy periods, ensuring smooth service delivery

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Chef in a busy kitchen environment, preferably within catering or event-based settings.
Culinary degree or equivalent professional certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of food handling, safety, and hygiene standards.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Creative flair and a passion for using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
