The Role

Inishowen Credit Union is seeking to recruit an experienced and ambitious Finance Manager to lead the finance function and support the ongoing strategic direction of the Credit Union.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the day-to-day financial control of the Credit Union, financial reporting, regulatory returns, asset, liability and investment management, and credit control.

Working closely with the CEO and the Board, you will influence the strategic agenda for the Credit Union and develop and drive the business forward to achieve our ambitious growth targets.

The new Finance Manager will embrace the Credit Union values and evolve to deliver best practice financial control and reporting, and to add value to the strategic agenda of the Credit Union.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Proactively oversee the finance function for Inishowen Credit Union
Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to the management team
Attend and present on financial performance at Board meetings
Monitor and identify trends in the Credit Union’s financial performance
Analyse results against budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans
Prepare ad hoc financial reports on projects, capital investments or strategic initiatives

Controls, Compliance & Regulatory

Ensure accuracy and integrity of all accounting records and financial systems
Ensure that all internal controls and procedures are fully implemented and close any control weaknesses by implementing necessary changes
Ensure regulatory reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time, including all Central Bank or other statutory body requirements
Lead the annual external audit, ensuring that systems and processes are designed to provide a successful outcome
Ensure ongoing regulatory and internal compliance is achieved
Liaise with auditors, regulators, and other professional advisers as necessary

Budgeting, Planning & Strategy

Manage the overall Credit Union budget cycle, undertake annual budgeting, multi-year financial projections and scenario analysis
Manage the Asset, Liability and Investment position by supporting the relevant committee, liaising with investment advisors and implementing the Board-agreed strategy and policies

Operations & Team Leadership

Take responsibility for the motivation, performance management and personal development of your team
Play a leadership role as a member of the senior management team and work cohesively with team members to live our values, support our objectives and targets, and set high standards for performance

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Accounts/accountancy qualification is essential.
A chartered or certified professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA) preferred
Minimum 5 years’ industry experience in a Finance Management role, preferably in financial services
Previous Credit Union experience is preferred

Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
Strong Excel and financial modelling skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to plan, forecast, budget, and oversee the implementation of financial strategies
Excellent report writing and presentation skills
Strong administrative, organisational and business support skills
Ability to multi-task and work calmly under pressure
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Appropriate attention to detail to ensure ICU meets its responsibilities as a regulated entity

Location & Working Arrangements

The primary office location is Buncrana. Some travel across our branch network in Inishowen will be required. Hybrid work model available, if required.

Pay: €50,000.00-€65,000.00 per year
