Job Overview

We are a dual branded property in the heart of Cork City; 2 hotels operating in 1 building! We’re looking for people who: Always think outside the box; Live in the now and know what’s next; and have high energy and a fearless do-it-yourself attitude. Our cool places need personalities, not staff.

As the Maintenance Assistant you will ensure the hotel is maintained to a high standard and to ensure that the property is a safe environment for the guests and staff, conforming to the requirements as laid out under the Health and Safety legislation.

Main Tasks & responsibilities

We're seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team and ensure the highest standards are maintained in our hotels. The role could involve dealing with reactive and planned maintenance, painting and decorating, minor plumbing and tiling works. You will need to be an all-rounder!

Technical Skills: Proficiency in maintenance tasks - plumbing, electrical, carpentry, BMS and HVAC systems (we will provide relevant training where necessary).
Safety First: Prioritises safety to maintain a secure and hazard-free environment.
Team Player: Collaborates effectively and supports fellow team members.
Guest Focus: Committed to enhancing guest experiences through excellent facility maintenance.
Adaptability: Can handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Example key responsibilities:

Painting and decorating of public areas and guest bedrooms
Fixing minor plumbing issues
Fixing minor electrical issues
Preventative maintenance for all the guest bedrooms
Weekly fire alarm testing and checks
Picking up ad-hoc maintenance issues registered by the team
Monitoring the H&S and working order of all public areas, including toilets (including front of house and back of house)
Keeping the immediate exterior of the hotel presentable, free from litter and in good working order, and organising the rubbish bins
Keeping the maintenance areas clean, tidy and fully stocked
Communicating with all the HOD's and supporting them with H&S issues

We’re looking for someone with Moxie, which is all of these things:

Have high energy and a fearless do-it-yourself attitude
Good with people and enjoy chatting with guests
Skilled multitasker who can balance hard work with great service
Know being relaxed isn’t the same as being lazy
Clear communicator fluent in English (and other languages a plus!)
Flexible hours with weekend availability

Useful Experience

Previous experience in a similar hotel environment
Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and be standards driven
A good knowledge of Health and Safety
Have great relationship building skills with the customers and the team
Flexibility in day-to-day job demands, remain focused when priorities and practices changes.
Electric, plumbing, carpentry qualifications would be advantageous
