Full job description

Hartley People Recruitment in partnership with our client are currently recruiting a Person in Charge (PIC) for a residential care home in Waterford.

Responsibilities:

Providing strong professional leadership by submitting comprehensive monthly reports to the Provider and/or Board as required.
Maintaining confidentiality and upholding professionalism in all interactions related to the Home.
Fostering a culture of Excellence in Resident Care and promoting the home’s ethos/values to all staff members.
Ensuring strict compliance with HIQA/HSE/Public Health and other Regulatory Bodies, adhering to the requirements of Statutory Bodies, Health Act, Health Safety and Welfare at Work Act, and operating procedures for the care of older adults.
Contributing to budget analysis, ensuring effective and efficient management and allocation of funds in alignment with prioritized service needs.
Managing staffing relations, handling conflict/grievance disciplinary situations following workplace policies, procedures, and legislation.
Assisting and supporting the Provider (Board) in addressing HR or Conflict Management issues.
Conducting mandatory staff training, safety awareness programs, and appraisals, ensuring the skill mix meets workload requirements.
Coordinating duty rosters, volunteer placements, staff recruitment, and appointments.
Ensuring the accuracy of record systems, conducting audits, implementing quality management measures, and setting goals.
Collaborating and liaising with healthcare professionals to promote best practices in residents’ health, medication management, and admission/discharge protocols.
Promoting health initiatives, conferences, learning platforms, and staff meetings to continually enhance service standards based on best practices and the latest research developments.
Facilitating team building, staff motivation, consultation, change management processes, and appropriately delegating duties.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
A minimum of 6 years of experience as a registered nurse.
Essential management experience with a proven track record of effective leadership.
Strong knowledge of and adherence to HIQA/HSE/Public Health and other Regulatory Bodies’ guidelines and requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to manage budgets and allocate resources efficiently.
In-depth understanding of healthcare policies, procedures, and legislation.
Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution and HR management.
A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of resident care.
