Job Summary
This is a local training initiative funded by Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim ETB and managed by Leitrim Development Company. The position involves co-ordinating the course to ensure that participants receive the required training to acquire a QQI level 5 Major Award in General Horticulture with Ornamental Landscaping. The programme aims to provide learners with knowledge, skills and competence in the area of horticulture, and to work independently under supervision in a range of key areas in the horticultural sector.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Produce and retain all project records in accordance with MSLETB and QQI requirements.
· Responsible for the day to day coordination, compliance, administration and delivery of activities at LDC’s horticulture centre.
· Manage all general administrative tasks associated with the design, delivery and evaluation of modules for the LTI.
· Co-ordinate the recruitment of learners to the LTI including strategic planning for the project.
· Delivery of QQI modules as specified in the MSLETB contract.
· Co-ordinate learning activities and projects designed to achieve specific learning outcomes as outlined in the module descriptors.
· Working with and supervising learners engaged in practical horticultural work in gardens and polytunnels.
· Provide ongoing support to learners to ensure they benefit from and successfully complete the course.
· Manage the planning, supervision and execution of routine maintenance and improvements to the LTI’s garden and polytunnels.
· Manage the care and maintenance of the programmes tools and equipment.
· Complete the development of individual learning plans with learners and facilitate progression to other forms of training, education or employment.
· Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the SICAP Education and Youth Support Worker.
Qualifications & Experience Required
· Candidates must have at minimum - QQI Level 6 Training Delivery and Evaluation. (formerly known as Train the Trainer).
· Third level relevant qualification desirable.
· Knowledge of QQI system qualifications and modules.
· At least two years’ experience of working in a similar role (i.e. tutoring experience/horticulture experience.
· Practical hard landscaping or construction experience.

· Planning, organisational and budgeting skills
· Good level of physical fitness

Salary
The salary of the position is €677.58 gross per week
Hours
You will be required to work 5 days a week, usually between 9:00 – 5:00pm Monday to Friday. However the nature of work requires flexibility in working of hours outside the norm from time to time.
