Full job description

Role Purpose

The Food Safety and Quality Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing our food safety and quality programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. They will also play a key role in driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and safety

We are seeking someone with excellent communication and leadership skills and who is detail-oriented with a passion for maintaining high standards.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality assurance programmes in accordance with regulatory requirements (e.g., HACCP, DAFM, FDA, GMPs, Customer Standards).
Conduct regular audits and inspections of facilities, processes, and procedures to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address non-conformances and improve processes.
Provide leadership and guidance to employees at all levels on food safety and quality matters, including training and development initiatives.
Stay informed about emerging food safety and quality trends, regulations, and best practices, and incorporate relevant changes into company policies and procedures.
Manage relationships with regulatory agencies, customers, and third-party auditors to ensure compliance and resolve any issues or concerns.
Oversee the implementation of food safety and quality management systems, including documentation and recordkeeping requirements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, safety, and efficiency throughout the organisation.
Lead investigations into food safety and quality incidents, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, food technology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in food safety and quality assurance roles preferably within the food industry.
In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and standards (e.g., FDA Food Code, BRCGS ).
Experience developing and implementing HACCP, GMPs, and other food safety management systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the capacity to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Certification in food safety (e.g., Certified Food Safety Manager, HACCP certification) is highly desirable.
Experience managing regulatory inspections, customer audits, and third-party certifications.
Proven track record of implementing and maintaining effective food safety and quality programs in a manufacturing environment.
