Dental Care Ireland, Waterford, have an excellent opportunity for a Dental Nurse/Receptionist to join our modern, established practice.
- 1+ years' Dental Nursing experience required.
- Recognised Dental Nursing qualification required.
- This is a permanent, full-time role, 41.75 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
- Dental Receptionist experience is an added advantage.

Reporting to: Practice Manager
Summary of Role
The dental nurse/receptionist is responsible for providing excellent service through the efficient management of patients both at reception and in the surgery. The dental nurse/receptionist will work in close partnership with the dental team, take instruction from the dentist and practice manager, and have the ability to take ownership and responsibility for clinical policies and procedures in the practice; as set out by Dental Care Ireland and other regulatory bodies, including the Dental Council of Ireland.
Tasks/Responsibilities
Dental Nursing
- Working closely with the dentist, providing chair side assistance to ensure the professional, accurate and timely completion of treatments and relevant records as required for patient care.
- Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate, according to the practice’s health and safety policy, manufacturers’ instructions and the Code of Practice relating to infection control as set out by the Dental Council of Ireland.
- Ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained for the smooth running of the practice, and inform appointed staff member when stock levels diminish.
- Liaise with reception team to ensure smooth patient communication and transfer of records.
- Work with the practice manager to assist in training new members of the clinical support team as and when required.
- Working with the practice manager in handling and resolving patient complaints, if they arise in line with company guidelines.
Reception
- Greeting and registering patients on a day to day basis at the reception desk.
- Providing information and reassurance to patients about their treatment.
- Handling, recording and resolving patient complaints in line with company guidelines.
- Phone and email management throughout the day.
- Daily cashing up exercise for the practice.
- Appointment book management to ensure maximisation of working hours.
- Providing support to clinicians by sending prescriptions, referral letters, x-rays etc.
- Performing any local admin tasks such as filing/scanning/lodgements/post etc.
- Payor claim administration for GMS/PRSI/VHI/DeCare .
- Completion of various spreadsheets for accounts purposes (i.e. cash sheet, trackers etc) .
- Key holder duties.
Essential
- 1+year Dental Nursing experience essential.
- Recognised Dental Nursing qualification required
- Authorised to work in Ireland.
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
- Fluent in written and oral English.
- Must have working knowledge in use of Microsoft Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, Internet and mail.

Pay: €16.00-€18.00 per hour
