Senior HGV Truck/Van Diagnostic Technician (Experienced Only):

Surehaul is a long-established commercial vehicle franchise dealer operating multiple workshops across County Kilkenny, County Tipperary and Waterford City.
We are main dealers for Renault Trucks and Mercedes-Benz, working across trucks, vans, and trailers with full OEM diagnostic systems and multi-brand platforms.
The Role:
We are recruiting a Senior Truck/Van Diagnostic Technician for our Urlingford workshop.
This role is focused on high-level diagnostics, fault finding and subsequent repair.
It is not suited to junior or general mechanics.
You will be expected to independently diagnose and repair complex faults across modern commercial vehicles, particularly electrical, electronic, and multiplex systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced diagnostics on HGV and LCV systems
- Fault finding on CAN bus, ECUs, sensors, and wiring systems
- Diagnosing intermittent and non-obvious faults
- Use of OEM diagnostic systems and structured fault-finding processes
- Accurate root cause analysis (not parts replacement)
- Supporting other mechanics and apprentices with technical problem solving when required
Minimum Requirements (Essential – Do Not Apply If Not Met)
- Fully qualified HGV/Truck-Van Technician (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5+ years hands-on experience in commercial vehicle diagnostics
- Proven ability to diagnose electrical and electronic faults independently
- Strong experience with diagnostic software (OEM or multi-brand such as Xentry/Vcads/Jaltest)
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical schematics
- Full clean driving licence
- Proficient in reading, writing and conversing in English.
- Must currently be based in Ireland and available to attend an in-person interview
- Must have full legal authorisation to work in Ireland (no visa sponsorship provided)
Desirable (But Not Essential)
- Experience with Renault or Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles
- HGV C licence
Important Note for Applicants
This is a senior diagnostic role.
Applicants who do not have significant experience in fault finding and diagnostics (beyond routine servicing and parts replacement) are unlikely to be suitable.
