About the Role:
We’re looking for a Morning Food & Beverage Supervisor to lead our breakfast service and support the setup for daytime operations. This role is crucial to ensuring smooth and professional service from the moment doors open.
You’ll supervise the team during pre-shift setup, oversee the breakfast buffet, maintain high standards across the restaurant and bar areas, and assist in setting up the bar for lunch service. You’ll also act as the go-to person for any morning guest queries or service issues, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for both guests and team members.
This is a morning role: 6:30am–3:00pm, five days out of seven, with availability across weekdays and weekends essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of food and beverage operations at the Mercantile Bar.
- Supervise the seamless execution of operations, ensuring high standards are maintained.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of bar products and menu items.
- Lead by example, promoting professionalism and excellence among team members.
- Mentor and train team members to enhance beverage knowledge and service standards.
- Collaborate with the F&B Manager to assist with financial responsibilities and optimising labour costs.
- Prioritise a customer-focused working environment, identifying needs, and delivering exceptional service.
- Conduct hands-on pre-shift preparation, including table inspections, stocking supplies, and menu familiarisation to provide effective guidance and service.
- Handle guest concerns professionally and ensure transparent communication with the management team for effective issue resolution.
Candidate Requirements:
- At least 3-4 years Food & Beverage experience, preferably in a 4+ hotel
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience a strong advantage
- Must be available from 6:30am and able to work weekdays, weekends, and public holidays
- Ability to multitask and manage a busy morning environment with confidence
- Good knowledge of breakfast service is advantageous , as is knowledge of wines, beers, spirits, cocktails, and mixed drinks
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software such as Tablepaths, Hotsoft, Volante, Alkimii or similar advantageous
- High attention to detail and proactive approach to problem-solving
- Passion for sustainable practices and waste reduction
- Ability to stand for extended period of times, and lift heavy Food & Beverage items (with assistance as per Manual Handling Best Practice)
