NW Cornerstone is a community-focused organisation dedicated to supporting individuals and families across a range of essential services. Our principal activities include providing accommodation and support for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, substance misuse support, and Housing First programmes. We also deliver vital services for older people, including Meals on Wheels and befriending programmes that promote wellbeing and social connection. We support children and young people through targeted after-school educational services and assist local communities through our advice and information service. Through these diverse services, NW Cornerstone is committed to empowering people, strengthening communities, and improving lives for those living in the North West of Ireland.
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Fundraising Coordinator to help expand and strengthen our donor community and grow supporter income through individual giving, community fundraising initiatives, fundraising events and other income-generating opportunities. This exciting role is ideal for a dynamic, organised, and creative individual who is passionate about making a positive impact.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Fundraising Coordinator will play a key role in building and maintaining strong relationships with supporters, donors, volunteers, and the wider community, while increasing public engagement and fundraising income.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and structured support to volunteer committees and community fundraisers, ensuring they are equipped, recognised, and motivated to deliver successful fundraising activities that reflect NW Cornerstone’s values.
What you’ll need
A minimum of 3 years' experience working in the charity, community, or voluntary sector is a distinct advantage or in a business development role. You will have demonstrated success in identifying and building new business or donor relationships and be skilled in developing and delivering compelling proposals and presentations. Experience in managing supporter/donor journeys to increase engagement is essential.
This role requires excellent attention to detail along with strong communication, organisational and coordination skills. An understanding of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and experience engaging with corporate partners is necessary. This is a senior specialist management role. Flexibility to attend events outside normal hours is required.
Contract duration: This is a 1-year fixed-term contract.
- Hours per week: This is a full-time post (35 hours per week). There is a possibility the organisation would consider a proposal from the successful candidate for flexible working patterns or a slightly reduced working week.
- Location: The position is based in our office in The Lungy, Sligo Town.
- Salary: The starting fulltime gross annual salary for this post is between €41,000 to €47,000 depending on experience.

Fundraising Coordinator
Purpose of Role: To identify fundraising opportunities to maximise fundraising activity and income and overall raise the profile of NW Cornerstone. The Fundraising Co-ordinator is responsible for identifying and cultivating relationships with businesses, individuals, and partners that can help generate income. This includes developing and managing revenue-generating relationships, driving strategic partnerships, supporting the delivery of high-impact fundraising events, leveraging data for relationship building, and providing supporter care.
Overall Responsibilities:
· Plan, deliver, and support high-performing fundraising initiatives and NW Cornerstone campaigns, ensuring achievement of income targets and KPIs. Deliver regional fundraising campaigns by managing and supporting volunteer committees, health and safety, compliance, volunteer mobilisation, and local promotion.
· Grow NW Cornerstones supporter base by engaging with schools, GAA clubs, local businesses, and community groups to expand both income and participation in events and campaigns.
· Provide leadership and structured support to volunteer committees and local community fundraisers, ensuring they are equipped, recognised, stewarded, and motivated to deliver successful events in line with NW Cornerstones values.
· Deliver excellent volunteer and community engagement through a hybrid model, combining in-person support with scheduled fundraising clinics to provide consistent, scalable access to expert advice.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Income Growth
- Develop and implement a strategic Community & Events Fundraising Plan

Community & Events Development
- Develop and deliver a calendar of community and fundraising events
- Build and nurture relationships with schools, community groups, and corporate partners

Supporter Engagement
- Provide exceptional supporter care as a key point of contact for supporters
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver engaging communications and resources
- Develop stewardship strategies to build long-term relationships
Collaboration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to maximise impact
- Contribute to integrated campaigns that strengthen engagement and storytelling
Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records and monitor fundraising performance
- Use data insights to inform decision-making and improve outcomes
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure all activities meet best practice standards, GDPR requirements, and organisational policies
Other
· Attend fundraising and community events, cheque presentations, etc., as required, including occasional evenings and weekends.
· Ensure the health and safety of participants and volunteers through conducting risk assessments.
Monitoring, Reporting & Planning
- Monitor performance; analyse trends and provide reports to support data-led planning and improvement.
- Support regional budgeting and forecasting, contributing financial insights and updates to income planning.
- Champion innovation in local, peer-to-peer, and events fundraising, testing new approaches to increase reach, retention, and supporter satisfaction.
Operations & Compliance
- Undertake essential administration for peer-to-peer and events-based fundraising activities, ensuring tasks are prioritised and delivered efficiently alongside other responsibilities.
- Maintain, update, and proactively manage data collection, ensuring clean, accurate, and timely data entry for all supporter interactions, income, and campaign activity.
- Track, and deliver tasks, manage deadlines, and collaborate effectively across teams in line with departmental processes.
- Ensure all activities comply with GDPR, financial policies, and organisational procedures.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by your manager.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Training, Experience and Qualifications
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fundraising within a non-profit sector, public-facing and/or business development role.
- Proven success in meeting or exceeding fundraising targets through peer-to-peer fundraising, events or community-led initiatives
· Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build and manage relationships with supporters across diverse audiences including volunteers, donors, schools, committees, and local influencers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including confidence in public speaking and donor communications.
- Comfortable using digital tools to promote local campaigns including social media, canva, and platforms like iDonate or JustGiving
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including working with formulas) for income tracking, basic analysis as it pertains to your area, and reporting, with the ability to reconcile data across platforms such as iDonate, JustGiving.
- Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to evaluate performance and drive improvements
- Self-motivated and target-driven, with the ability to work independently
- Flexible and responsive to changing priorities, including availability to work evenings/weekends during peak activity periods
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel regularly within your region
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with a proven ability to multitask and prioritise time and resources.
