Vision Sports Ireland, a subsidiary of Vision Ireland (formerly known as NCBI). Vision Sports Ireland is the national governing body for sport and physical activity for blind and vision impaired people in Ireland. Our mission is for the blind and vision impaired community to participate in sport and recreational activities of their choice.
Vision Sports Ireland has an exciting opportunity to appoint a Physical Activity Coordinator who will play a key role in providing health and wellbeing programmes for Vision Sports Ireland members. The successful candidate will work closely with the Vision Sports Ireland team and Vision Ireland services to grow the membership base and embed physical activity as a key service offering across the organisation. The appointee will work closely with the National Sports Development Manager and wider team to design and coordinate programmes and events. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, innovative, have an attention for detail, an ability to track data and work under pressure.
The Physical Activity Coordinator will work as part of a small progressive team and will be required to work in a way which reflects the core values of Vision Sports Ireland and Vision Ireland. The role promoting and supporting opportunities for independence and enhanced quality of life for people who are blind and vision impaired through sport and physical activity.
This post is an initial 12 month fixed term contract.
Reporting
The Physical Activity Coordinator will report to the National Sports Development Manager.
The ideal candidate will hold a third level qualification in business management, recreation and leisure management or an appropriate field.
It is essential the person appointed has a proven track record in programme, membership and stakeholder management.
Have experience in record keeping and report writing.
Experience and understanding of working within the disability sports sector is advantageous.
The Physical Activity Coordinator is an integral role to Vision Sports Ireland with responsibility for increasing activity levels within the vision impaired population and supporting members to meet the national physical activity guidelines.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Physical Activity Practitioner in the role out of the new 'I Can' initiative. Developing pre and post programme evaluation will be essential in monitoring the progress of the initiative.
The Physical Activity Coordinator will work closely with colleagues to create a pathway to Vision Sports Ireland and community activities.
A key priority will be to work as part of the Vision Sports Ireland team to collaborate with Vision Ireland colleagues and community stakeholders to increase physical activity pathway opportunities. The role will involve programme and event management as a key area of responsibility.
Provide input into day-to-day operations of Vision Sports Ireland.
Record new membership referrals.
Tracking programme and participation data.
Respond to membership and public queries.
Work with the Vision Sports Ireland team and key stakeholders including National Governing Bodies for sport to establish community pathway opportunities.
Work with the Vision Sports Ireland team to increase participation in programmes and initiatives.
Work as part of a motivated and focused team to service the priorities of Vision Sports Ireland.
Work as part of a team for programme coordination and event management.
Continually evaluate and monitor the quality of services provided by Vision Sports Ireland.
Serve and support colleagues as a member of the Vision Sports Ireland Team including, but not limited to business administration, as well as all operational tasks as required.
Collaborating with Vision Ireland colleagues, National Governing Bodies of Sport, Local Sports Partnerships and Disability Services.

The role will involve out of hours evening and weekend work from time to time. Garda vetting is required.
Essential:
Hold a third level qualification (minimum degree) in sports, recreation or leisure management, business management or relevant discipline.
Experience of working in sports or physical activity sector.
Experience in programme development
Experience in bringing innovative thinking and creativity to problem solving complex issues, and sound decision making and judgment.
An ability to communicate with impact and influence (written, oral and presentation).
Passion for sport, physical activity and inclusion.
Strong office IT skills.
Proficient social media and marketing skills.
Proficient in CRM systems.
Ability to work as part of a diverse, dynamic and high performing team.
Eligibility to work and reside in Republic of Ireland.
