Unlike traditional agencies, we are a hybrid Design Studio and Fabrication House.
As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated head of Production, must have experience in the events/exhinition/theatre industry to join our team remote with travel, hybrid or in our offices in Laois.
You will serve as the connection between our creative studio and our workshop.
You are a translator: you speak the language of designers (renders, CAD, aesthetics) and the language of fabricators (materials, CNC, logistics). Your goal is to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the high aesthetic standard our clients expect, while maintaining a safe and efficient workflow.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Project Delivery & Workflow
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of projects from confirmed brief to load-out and reconciliation.
- Translate creative concepts into actionable production schedules, assigning tasks to the design team and fabrication crew.
- Identify technical requirements early (AV, lighting, power) and integrate them into the build plan.
- Manage the "handover" meeting from Design to Workshop to ensure fabricators have clear drawings and material specs.
Financial & Resource Management
- Create detailed production budgets and track job profitability in real-time.
- Manage procurement of materials and sub-rentals (specialty lighting/AV equipment).
- Resource planning: Balance the workload of the team (12 staff) to prevent bottlenecks in the studio or the shop.
Logistics & Safety
- Plan detailed install/de-install logistics, including transport, crew scheduling, and site access.
- Serve as the primary Health & Safety officer, ensuring RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements) are generated and adhered to both in the workshop and on-site.
- Maintain the shop floor standards and equipment maintenance schedules.
Client Interaction:
- Conduct meetings to understand client requirements, objectives, and expectations.
- In collaboration with the Creative Director, translate client needs into comprehensive production briefs and method statements.
Quotation and Proposal Development:
- Develop accurate and detailed quotations based on client briefs.
- Create comprehensive method statements outlining materials, labor, H&S requirements for production builds.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
Project Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop detailed work-back schedules for production builds in collaboration with Workshop Manager, ensuring timely delivery.
- Work closely with project teams to coordinate, document and update tasks and deadlines.
- Proactively identify and address potential production bottlenecks
- Identify and develop optimized ways of working in collaboration with the various department leads.
Internal Costing and Reconciliation:
- Manage internal costing processes, ensuring accuracy and profitability.
- Regularly reconcile project costs against budget estimates.
- Provide insights and recommendations for cost optimization.
- Ensure PO’s are received from clients and invoiced on time.
Supplier and Material Management:
- Source and negotiate with suppliers and material providers to secure the best terms and value while maintaining our high quality standards
- Manage relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and quality control.
- Continuously seek new suppliers to enhance competitiveness.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a head of produciton in a creative production agency.
- Strong understanding of creative production processes and techniques.
- Natural problem solver and collaborator - you find ways to remove internal and external bottlenecks and move projects forward
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions.
- Proficient in project management software and tools and proven ability to keep them updated
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines and quick turnarounds
- Negotiation skills for effective supplier management.
