Overview:
We are seeking talented Testing Consultants (QA Analysts) with a proven track record in solution delivery. This role is specifically centred around Point of Sale (POS) terminal testing, and requires strong experience in payment terminal certification, EMV standards, and Level 3 (L3) testing.
The Test Analyst will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing tests in a custom development environment in line with agreed plans and strategies. As a member of a highly collaborative, dynamic test team, the Test Analyst will be asked to provide mentoring, guidance and direction to other team members, as well as ensuring the quality of the team’s output is of a consistently high standard.
This role is fully onsite in Nenagh, Tipperary.
Responsibilities:
- Document and execute high quality test plans for functional areas under custom development and test, with a strong focus on POS terminal behaviour, transaction flows, and certification requirements

Analyse complex requirements and review acceptance criteria to ensure they are fit for purpose, testable and aligned with EMV and terminal certification standards

Create comprehensive and well defined test scripts that are traceable back to requirements

Execution of functional, regression and integration test scripts across payment terminal environments

Lead/participate in defect triage discussions and question development perception of severity, particularly in relation to payment processing risks

Co-ordination of test activities and work as part of a scrum team

Interrogate the underlying databases to extract test data and execute SQL statements to prove test results

Develop and execute technical tests to prove the load and performance of the solution

Contribute to management reporting including appropriate test metrics on planning, defects and execution

Ensure regression testing is performed in a manner that recognizes the risks of introducing defects into the environment

Work closely with the development teams to provide information and direction to junior team members

Escalate risks and issues to the appropriate level to ensure resolution

Support test management in developing project plans and track against key milestone dates
Qualifications:
- Essential:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
ISTQB Foundation -
Proven experience in POS terminal testing including EMV and Level 3 (L3) certification

Experience:
- 3 - 5+ years of experience testing backend systems, preferably in payment terminal environments or device management platforms

Strong hands-on experience in POS terminal testing, EMV transaction flows, and L3 certification processes (mandatory)

Strong expertise in API automation and backend testing, with minimal dependency on UI layers

Hands-on experience with automation frameworks (Cucumber, REST Assured, Serenity) and scripting in Java, JavaScript, and TypeScript

Proven experience testing terminal configuration services, device parameters, versioned configurations, or similar backend workflows

Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab

Test payment applications on PAX Android POS terminals

Familiarity with cloud-native deployments, microservices architectures, and container orchestration

Proficiency with Agile collaboration tools including Git, Jira, Confluence, and Gerrit

Experience in the fintech or payments domain, especially related to cards, terminals, and backend processing systems
