Senior Staff Nurse (Full-Time)

Role Summary
The Senior Staff Nurse will play a key leadership role within the nursing home, providing high-quality, evidence-based care and supporting the delivery of excellent clinical standards. The postholder will demonstrate strong clinical leadership, mentorship, and organizational skills, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred care at all times.
You will work closely with the CNM and Director of Nursing, supervising the care team, coordinating shifts, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines, ensuring alignment with current legislation, evidence-based practice, and NMBI professional standards.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident care plans to meet individual needs and promote quality of life.
- Administer and manage medications safely and accurately in line with NMBI and organizational Medicines Management standards.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing and care records.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, families, and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide visible clinical leadership on the floor, supporting, guiding, and motivating colleagues to uphold the highest standards of care.
- Support staff development by fostering learning, competence, and confidence within the care team.
Requirements
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- 1–2 years post-registration experience in a clinical or care home setting
- Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated leadership ability with a commitment to maintaining professional and ethical standards
- Possession of leadership or management training/certificates will be a distinct advantage
Desirable
- Previous experience in a nursing home or similar long-term care environment
- Experience supervising staff and coordinating care delivery
Rate of Pay
A competitive hourly rate will be offered, commensurate with experience and responsibilities.
