Apply logical calculations where required information is not directly available.
-
Support budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and performance reviews.
-
Assist the Finance Manager with day-to-day finance operations, including invoicing, purchasing, daily sales and accrual information.
-
Support weekly, month-end and year-end finance tasks.
-
Monitor actual performance against budgets and highlight significant variances or overspends.
-
Maintain and optimise point-of-sale back-office systems, including products, pricing, VAT, article groupings and till layouts.
-
Investigate till, pricing, transaction and reporting discrepancies.
-
Provide analytical support to operational teams when investigating stocktake, purchasing or cost variances.
-
Support profit-protection activity by carrying out audits, documenting findings and escalating concerns where required.
-
Liaise with operational teams, suppliers and clients to verify information and resolve queries.
-
Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting processes and efficiency.
Our ideal Finance & Data Analyst will:
-
Previous experience in finance, reporting, data analysis, retail administration or a similar role.
-
Strong intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, IF formulas and pivot tables.
-
Comfortable working with large datasets and Excel date and time formats.
-
Good understanding of gross and net values, VAT, sales, purchases, cost of goods sold, gross profit and gross profit percentage.
-
Basic understanding of profit and loss accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial variances.
-
Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
-
Able to work independently, manage deadlines and use initiative.
