Now Hiring: Financial Accountant (Fixed Term Maternity Cover)
We are currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant on a fixed-term maternity cover contract for 12 months. This position can be in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan or Dublin and is ideal for a qualified accountant looking to join a dynamic, fast-paced business and make an immediate impact within our Finance team.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for supporting the delivery of accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the month-end process, balance sheet management, financial reconciliations, and reporting activities, while supporting both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:

Managing and supporting the month-end close process

Maintaining fixed asset registers and calculating monthly depreciation

Managing balance sheet and cashbook reconciliations

Completing monthly reconciliations across all balance sheet accounts

Supporting the development and maintenance of strong financial controls

Ensuring compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and SOX Light principles

Managing relationships with shared service teams and resolving finance-related queries

Preparing VAT and RCT returns accurately and on time

Assisting with the preparation of annual statutory accounts

Liaising with external auditors and supporting audit requirements

Producing ad hoc financial reports and analysis as required

Supporting the Senior Financial Controller and wider leadership team with finance projects and business initiatives
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience

Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) with 5 years experience

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements

Experience in month-end accounting and balance sheet reconciliations

Knowledge of VAT and financial compliance requirements

Advanced Excel skills and strong systems aptitude

High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Strong organisational and time management skills

Ability to prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines

Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable

Experience within a logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or supply chain environment

Knowledge of UK and/or Irish GAAP

Experience working within a shared services environment

Previous exposure to audit processes and financial control frameworks
