COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT SCHEME - Eligibility criteria applies / Over 21 years of age, 12 consecutive months unemployed and in receipt of a social welfare payment during this time eg Jobseekers.
The employment of the Caretaker/Cleaner position is on a part time basis and expected to be 5 days per week totalling 19.5 hours per week. The intended times will be decided by the Community Employment Supervisor & CEO
Youth Work Ireland North Connaught Community Employment Scheme is a project funded by the Department of Social Protection in which employs participants to work within its own services and with other community-based organisations in Sligo & Leitrim.
1. Communicate with NCYCS Project staff on a daily basis to ensure a safe environment is maintained in centre building and outside grounds,
2. Fulfil cleaner responsibilities associated with the centre,
3. Open and lock up premises as required and ensure building is secure at all times,
4. To keep in safe custody the keys of the building, alarm codes and to ensure that no unauthorised person has access to any part of the building,
5. Set up as required rooms for meetings, events and ensure that sufficient equipment, materials, furniture, lighting and heating is in place for users and cleaning of rooms afterwards,
6. To keep the centre premises, furniture and fittings etc in a clean condition,
7. Attend to internal and external litter,
8. Dusting, hoovering & cleaning of offices, meeting rooms, kitchen, toilets, corridors etc daily,
9. To keep the centre grounds in good order,
10. Requisition and maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment,
11. Ensure that users of centre adhere to regulations related to use of the facilities,
12. Operate all machinery associated with duties safely, ensuring equipment is properly utilised,
13. Deal with and report any unauthorised activity and problems associated with centre to coordinator,
14. Preparation of meeting and other rooms for groups and meetings and clean up afterwards.
15. Assist youth workers preparing (may include getting supplies in local shops) serving food and clean up afterwards.
16. Participate in in- house training, particularly related to Health & Safety, Child Protection and any relevant courses.
17. Meet and greet visitors to centre and take telephone messages and pass to relevant person.
18. To perform such similar and kindred duties as may be required from time to time by the Coordinator/Project Staff.
Under Health & Safety Guidelines Steel Cap work shoes/boots are provided and must be worn during working hours. Any safety workwear provided is for work purposes only and not for personal use.
It is expected that all staff will understand that the work is confidential and that all personal details about clients and other staff members must not be divulged to members of the public.
Garda Clearance and (Police Check if applicable) will be sought and two references will
be required.
