Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and mechanical fitting for a modern fleet of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). This role requires specialized technical knowledge to optimize the performance, uptime, and safety compliance of premium commercial vehicle brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Service & Maintenance: Perform routine safety inspections, scheduled servicing, and preventative maintenance on trucks in line with manufacturer specifications.
- Brand-Specific Diagnostics: Troubleshoot complex mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical faults using proprietary and multi-brand diagnostic platforms.
- Compliance: Prepare and test commercial vehicles to strict CVRT guidelines, reporting any structural or safety issues.
- Documentation Accurate record Keeping, tracking parts usage, and updating vehicle maintenance histories.
- Workshop Safety: Maintain a clean, organized workstation and adhere strictly to Irish Health and Safety regulations.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Certification: Must hold an Advanced Certificate Craft – Heavy Vehicle Mechanic (SOLAS/FETAC Level 6) or an equivalent recognized mechanical apprenticeship qualification.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of post-apprenticeship experience handling HGV commercial fleets, municipal machinery, or main dealership workshop tasks.
- Brand Specialization: Demonstrated experience working with DAF, Scania, or Volvo commercial vehicles is highly advantageous.
- Driving Licence: A full clean Irish Category B driving licence is mandatory; a Category C or CE (HGV) licence is a distinct advantage.
