About ROQ
ROQ Commercial Contracting is a growing civil engineering contractor delivering utilities, earthworks, drainage, road construction, site clearance, fencing and infrastructure projects across Ireland.
As our operations continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced Senior Accounts & Operations Administrator with strong construction sector experience to support the financial and administrative control of the business.
This is a key role sitting between accounts, operations and project delivery, ensuring strong financial controls, accurate reporting and smooth day-to-day administration across multiple live projects.
The Role
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-driven professional with strong bookkeeping and construction administration experience.
This role goes beyond traditional accounts administration. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving financial controls, managing purchasing workflows, supporting payroll administration, controlling project-related expenditure and ensuring accurate cost allocation across the business.
The role also includes managing accommodation and logistics for site teams working nationwide, making strong planning and organisational ability essential.
You will work closely with the COO and external accountant, helping maintain financial discipline and providing reliable administrative support across a busy and growing operation.
Main Responsibilities :
Purchase Order & Cost Control
- Create, implement and manage purchase order systems across the business
- Track purchase orders through to supplier invoice and payment
- Ensure invoices match approved purchase orders and identify discrepancies
- Support stronger purchasing controls and cost visibility across projects
Accounts & Bookkeeping
- Validate, process and accurately post supplier invoices
- Code costs correctly to supplier accounts, ledgers, departments and projects
- Maintain purchase ledger accuracy and strong cost allocation discipline
- Complete accurate bank reconciliations
- Manage staff receipts, expenses and company card reconciliations
Construction Cost Administration
- Track project-related costs and allocate expenditure to correct jobs
- Maintain accurate records for management accounts and project reporting
- Understand construction-specific accounting requirements including:
- Cost coding
- VAT treatment
- Expense classifications
- Revenue compliance requirements
Payroll & Labour Administration
- Collect, manage and validate weekly site hours and timesheets
- Ensure labour data is accurate for payroll processing
- Track overtime, allowances and labour-related costs
Accommodation & Operational Support
- Coordinate and manage accommodation for crews working nationwide
- Track accommodation costs and allocate to relevant projects
- Ensure accommodation bookings are efficiently planned and cost controlled
- Support general operations administration as required
What We’re Looking For
- Strong book-keeping / accounts administration experience within the construction sector
- Excellent understanding of purchase ledger and cost control processes
- Strong knowledge of invoice coding, ledger structures and project cost allocation
- Good understanding of VAT rules, including what expenditure is claimable and non-claimable
- Experience working with project-based cost tracking
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
- Strong Excel and accounting software capability
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of systems
