Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Relief Milkers to support our dairy farm customers in the North Tipp, South Offaly & Laois areas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in milking procedures, herd health monitoring, and the day-to-day operations of a working dairy farm. This role is perfect for a dependable individual who is available to cover shifts on short notice, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out milking duties to a high standard using one or both: herringbone and rotary parlours (as applicable)
- Ensure all milking equipment is cleaned and maintained to hygiene standards
- Monitor cow health and report any irregularities such as mastitis, lameness, or injury
- Handle cows calmly and confidently to reduce stress and ensure safety
- Maintain accurate milking and health records if required
- Assist with calving, feeding, and other general farm duties when requested
- Follow all farm biosecurity and health & safety protocols
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience milking in a commercial dairy operation
- Familiarity with common milking systems (e.g., DeLaval, Dairymaster, Fullwood, etc.) is an advantage
- Good understanding of animal welfare and herd health
- Flexible and dependable with strong communication skills
- Ability to work early mornings and/or late evenings, including weekends
- Own transport and full clean driver’s licence preferred
- Right to work in Ireland
Desirable:
- Knowledge of pasture-based systems common in Irish dairy farming
- Ability to work across multiple farms in the region as and if required

Pay: €13.50-€15.00 per hour
