Experienced Window & Door Fitters & General Operatives (G.O.) Required – Cork
We are a small, family-run business specialising in replacement window and door installations throughout Munster.
Due to increased demand for our services, we are currently seeking experienced Replacement Window & Door Fitters and General Operatives (G.O.) to join our growing team for a large domestic project in Cork.
The roles will initially be offered on a six-month contract, with the opportunity to progress to a full-time permanent position. Work will primarily cover Cork City and County, with occasional travel throughout Munster as required.
All applicants must currently have valid legal permission to work in Ireland.
Position 1: Experienced Replacement Window & Door FittersKey Responsibilities
- Installation of replacement windows and doors in domestic properties.
- Removal of existing windows and doors while taking care to minimise damage to customers' properties.
- Completing all installation, sealing and finishing work to a high standard.
- Ensuring windows and doors are correctly fitted, level, secure and operating properly.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and professional work environment.
- Protecting customers' homes and belongings while work is being carried out.
- Communicating effectively and professionally with customers.
- Working independently and as part of a fitting team.
- Travelling daily to various work locations throughout Cork and occasionally to other Munster counties.
Requirements
- Proven experience in domestic replacement window and door installation is essential.
- Ability to fit and finish all jobs to a high standard.
- Good knowledge of window and door installation methods.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your workmanship.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Own transport is essential for travelling to the company yard or designated meeting point each day.
- Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification required.
- Plastering and/or carpentry experience is highly desirable.
- Reliable, hardworking and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
Position 2: General Operative (G.O.)
We are also seeking General Operatives to support our experienced fitting teams on domestic window and door replacement projects.
This position would suit someone who is hardworking, reliable, willing to learn and comfortable working in customers' homes as part of a professional installation team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting window and door fitters with daily installation work.
- Preparing work areas before installations begin.
- Protecting floors, furniture and surrounding areas in customers' homes.
- Loading and unloading windows, doors, tools and other materials.
- Carrying and organising materials and equipment safely.
- Assisting with the removal of existing windows and doors.
- Helping fitters during the installation process as required.
- Cleaning and preparing openings and work areas.
- Assisting with general finishing and making-good work where required.
- Keeping tools, materials and work areas organised.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and tidy site throughout the working day.
- Cleaning the work area thoroughly once installations are completed.
- Following all company health and safety procedures.
- Working respectfully and professionally while in customers' homes.
- Carrying out other general duties as required by the fitting team.
G.O. Requirements
- Previous construction, window fitting, carpentry or general labouring experience is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working in domestic properties is an advantage.
- Must be physically capable of safely handling windows, doors and associated materials.
- Must be reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced fitters.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good attitude and professional manner when dealing with customers.
- Own transport is essential for travelling to the company yard or designated meeting point each day.
- Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification required.
- Plastering and/or carpentry experience would be an advantage.
Working Arrangements
- Monday to Friday schedule.
- Company vans depart from and return to the company yard each day.
- Initial six-month contract, with the opportunity to progress to a permanent full-time position.
- Work primarily throughout Cork City and County.
- Occasional work elsewhere in Munster may be required.
