Kitchen Porter

University of Galway

This role delivers in more ways than one.

We're passionate about cooking up exceptional service for students, colleagues and visitors across the University of Galway campus, and we know that a clean and efficient kitchen is the key to making that possible. An energetic and proactive team player, you'll be the backbone of our catering services, helping to keep our kitchens running smoothly every day.

What you'll do:

Keep all kitchen areas, equipment, crockery and utensils clean, tidy and well-organised
Help chefs check, accept and correctly store incoming deliveries
Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables safely and responsibly
Assist chefs with food preparation tasks when required
Support the smooth running of kitchen operations during busy service periods
Follow food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times
Work closely with the kitchen team and support colleagues where needed

What you'll bring:

We provide full training, but previous kitchen or hospitality experience is a plus
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
A good eye for cleanliness and hygiene
A team-first attitude and willingness to pitch in wherever needed
Reliability, flexibility and a positive approach to work
The ability to follow procedures and work safely
