Power up your Career: Join us as a Trainee/Junior Mechanic in our Dublin depot. We are delighted to be creating this brand-new position as part of the continued growth of our equipment rental business. As Trainee/Junior Mechanic you will be responsible for assisting the service team with maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy machinery, ensuring optimal functionality, safety, and operational efficiency.
What you will do:
- Work closely with senior mechanics and other members of the maintenance team.
- Carry out basic mechanical repairs and maintenance under appropriate supervision.
- Replace basic mechanical components such as filters, belts, hoses, brakes and other parts where appropriately trained.
- Use hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and correctly.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during maintenance and repair work.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop and working area.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures and safe working practices, carry out routine inspections and report any faults or issues identified.
- Assist with identifying basic mechanical faults and determining when further investigation is required.
- Assist with dismantling, repair and reassembly of mechanical components.
- Use hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and correctly.
- Carry out basic servicing and preventative maintenance tasks.
What you will need:
- Previous experience working with machinery plant and equipment desirable.
- Good all-round mechanical skills.
- Experience working on diesel engines desirable.
- Leaving Cert or equivalent.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot some mechanical issues.
- Organised with the ability to communicate effectively.
- IT proficient to record jobs electronically.
- Valid driver’s licence is desirable.
