Daughters of Charity Child & Family Service provides a range of child and family-focused services supporting children, young people and families in the community. Our services include early childhood development and education, family support, child and youth services, and targeted supports for children and families experiencing additional needs or challenges.

About Our Early Childhood Development Service (ECDS)
Our Early Childhood Development Service (ECDS) provides high-quality early learning and developmental support to young children in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.
We work in partnership with children, parents, families and other professionals to support each child’s wellbeing, development, learning and individual needs. Our approach is child-centred and play-based, with practice guided by Aistear and Síolta and a strong focus on inclusion, participation and positive outcomes for every child.
We Are Hiring – ECDS Worker
We are now looking for an enthusiastic, caring and dedicated ECDS Worker to join our team at Tír na nÓg ECDS.
The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for working with young children and will contribute to creating a warm, stimulating, safe and supportive environment where every child has the opportunity to learn, develop and thrive.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Early Years professional to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of children and families while working as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
Education & Learning
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate educational programmes in line with Aistear and Síolta.
- Support children’s learning and development through play-based and child-centred experiences.
- Utilise the HighScope approach, where applicable, to support children’s active learning and development.
- Plan and deliver activities that reflect children’s interests, abilities, developmental stages and individual needs.
- Encourage children’s curiosity, creativity, independence and participation in learning.
Child Development & Wellbeing
- Promote the holistic development of each child, including their social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language development.
- Create a safe, inclusive, welcoming and stimulating environment.
- Build positive, respectful and responsive relationships with children.
- Support children to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships with others.
- Identify and respond appropriately to children’s individual developmental needs.
Documentation, Observation & Evaluation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children’s development, progress and activities.
- Observe and document children’s learning and development.
- Use appropriate evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of educational programmes and activities.
- Contribute to planning and reviewing individual learning and development goals.
- Use record-keeping systems, including Salesforce, to maintain files and reports efficiently.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with the ECDS Manager and wider team to ensure a consistent and high-quality approach to children’s care, education and development.
- Develop positive and professional relationships with parents and guardians.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding children’s progress, development and any concerns.
- Participate in team meetings, planning and service development.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals involved in supporting children and families.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- QQI Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in Early Childhood Education/Development or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year’s experience working in childcare/early years.
- Minimum 1 year’s experience working with Aistear and Síolta.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development principles.
- Experience planning and delivering age-appropriate educational activities.
- Experience observing, documenting and evaluating children’s learning and development.
Desirable Experience
- 1 year’s experience working with the HighScope approach.
- Experience using Salesforce or similar electronic record-keeping systems.
- Knowledge of current best practice in early childhood education and care.
- Experience working collaboratively with families and other professionals.

What We Offer
Full-time position – 35 hours per week
