Permanent, Full-Time, 35 Hours Per week
The Physiotherapy Service is to provide patient-centred, innovative and evidence-based care in the management and treatment of gynaecologic and obstetric conditions.
To provide patient-centred, innovative and evidence-based care in the management and treatment of endometriosis and other gynaecologic conditions.
To supervise staff grades and physiotherapy students..
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

The senior physiotherapist will provide an appropriate and evidence -based clinical service to endometriosis and gynecological patients.

Incorporate professional codes of conduct, standards of practice, professional and organisational policies into own practice.
- Promoting Initiatives that will ensure professional practice.
- Recognising where appropriate to refer decisions to a higher level of authority and include colleagues in decision-making.

Demonstrate flexibility as and when required by the Physiotherapy Manager to ensure the delivery of an effective & efficient service.

Work in the area(s) allocated by the Physiotherapy Manager.
- To undertake other duties within the hospital as specified by the Clinical Lead and / or the Physiotherapy Manager, including maintaining ward competency level.

Carry out other duties as appropriate to the post as required from time to time.

Keeping up to date with developments in Rotunda, ISCP & Irish healthcare system and applying same to practice as appropriate.

Exercising a professional duty of care to patients and acting as a patient advocate
Communication
To manage and maintain professional communication in oral & written form appropriate to the content and target audience.
Facilitating good communication with own department and with multi-disciplinary & practice education teams.
Demonstrate the ability to facilitate and lead group physiotherapy sessions.
Lectures at local & national levels
Providing a quality service:
Identifying and prioritizing the requirements of the endometriosis service area.
Providing a safe, timely, effective, efficient, evidence based and patient centred service.
Prioritise and manage caseload according to the needs of the department.
Demonstrate effective team working as a component of efficient case management and delegate a clinical caseload and other tasks to relevant team members to ensure an optimum service is provided.
Working in collaboration with colleagues to manage complex patients.
Demonstrate appropriate background knowledge prior to commencing assessment, by keeping up to date with current literature.
To assess, plan, implement evaluation treatment plans for service users.
Demonstrate clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence-based practice.
Apply clinical reasoning skills to set appropriate goals.
Apply evidence based outcome measures to evaluate treatment efficiency and quality of care.
To undertake clinical audit.
Service development:
- Act as a positive and supportive team leader & identify changing needs and opportunities to improve services.
- Initiating and undertaking quality improvement projects as outlined in the physiotherapy strategic plan and aligned with the Rotunda Hospital strategic plan.

Balancing clinical demands with other responsibilities such as departmental responsibilities, practice education, CPD, organisational and service development.

Collect, evaluate and report on statistics & patient data.

Optimise appropriate resources to achieve departmental efficiencies.
Education and development:
-
Attend & contribute to staff meetings and multi-disciplinary team meetings as required.

Planning & delivery of in-service training.

To take a lead role as clinical educator for Royal College Surgeons Ireland undergraduate physiotherapy student placements and lectures
-
Participate in mandatory training programmes.

Identifying & taking responsibility for own personal development needs (PPDS & CPD).
-
Tailoring own CPD to match service needs.

Qualifications and/ or experience
Candidates for appointment must:
(i) Hold a Physiotherapy qualification recognised by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU. Please see list of acceptable Physiotherapy qualifications: https://coru.ie/files-registration/hse-list-of-physiotherapistqualifications.pdf.
AND
(ii) Be registered on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.
OR
(iii) Applicants who satisfy the conditions set out in Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005,must submit proof of application for registration with the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU. The acceptable proof is correspondence from the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU confirming their application for registration as a Section 91 applicant
AND
(iv) Candidates must have three years full time (or an aggregate of three years full time) post qualification clinical experience, of which a minimum of 2 years' full-time (or equivalent) must be in the area of women's health.
AND
(b) Have advanced knowledge and skilled experience in the area of specialism and the ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
Evidence of continuous professional development in this area in the form of relevant courses, conferences and/or postgraduate qualifications.
2. Annual registration
(i) On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU
AND
(ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC)
