Quality Assurance Executive (EO Grade)
The Medical Council is seeking to recruit a Quality Assurance Executive (Executive Officer Grade) to join our Education and Training Team, within the Education, Innovation & AI Directorate.
The team takes the lead for the Medical Council on quality assuring medical education and training in Ireland, spanning a doctor's professional development from undergraduate, intern and specialist training. This includes the approval of programmes of medical education leading to the award of a medical degree and a postgraduate specialist qualification; and the medical schools and postgraduate training bodies which deliver these programmes. The Medical Council also inspects clinical training sites and anatomy departments to monitor adherence to standards.
This role reports to a Quality Assurance Manager (Senior Executive Officer) within the Education and Training Team. The role also works on cross directorate projects, usually led by the Assistant Principal Officer. All posts within the Directorate provide support to the Director of Education and Training.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting qualitative and quantitative monitoring activities including collecting, evaluating and analysing data and preparing reports.
Supporting your line manager in delivering Education and Training accreditations in line with standard operating procedures.
Supporting your line manager with monitoring compliance to accreditation standards.
Understanding and applying established standards, legislation, and regulatory frameworks.
Assisting your line manager in drafting detailed and high-quality reports and committee papers to agreed timescales.
Managing daily administrative functions, such as, liaising with stakeholders, collecting, and analysing data, reporting on outcomes, drafting reports, and providing support to colleagues as directed.
Building strong relationships, and working closely, with stakeholders.
Arranging, scheduling, and supporting meetings, including attendance, taking notes, drafting minutes and any other work arising.
Compiling and distributing information and documentation as required.
Coordinating travel and accommodation arrangements.
Preparing briefing papers, research material and website content.
Maintaining relevant database and ICT systems, including electronic document filing.
Participating actively in continuous improvement activities within the Directorate and any wider organisational projects as may be required.
Actively engaging with the risk framework of the Medical Council.
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties, and the job holder is expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation. As a result, the role is varied and interesting.
Essential Criteria
At least 2 years satisfactory experience in a busy administrative role.
Proficient in MS Office (MS Word and MS Excel and diary management).
Experience of writing minutes or reports is essential.
A minimum qualification requirement is that the applicant holds a Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational training qualification.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience in an organisation which operates procedures and activities within a statutory framework.
Research experience working with qualitative and / or quantitative data.
A third level qualification.

Details of this Appointment:
Position Type: This appointment will be offered on a full-time permanent basis. A 6-Month probationary period applies to this appointment.
Salary: Starting salary will be at €38,803, which is the first point of the Executive Officer PayScale.
If you are currently a serving civil or public servant, your entry point to the PayScale may be higher based on your current salary.
There will be a salary increment each year in line with the Executive Officer Grade PayScale and subject to satisfactory performance, until the maximum point on the scale has been reached. The rate of remuneration will not be subject to negotiation and may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy.

Annual Leave: 23 working days plus public holidays
Hours: 35 hours per week, Mon-Fri.
Location: The Medical Council's offices are located at Kingram House, Kingram Place, Dublin 2. We operate a hybrid working model with both remote working and a current requirement for on-site attendance two days per week.
Pension: The Medical Council offers a pension through the Public Sector Scheme. Contributions to the scheme will commence on joining the organisation. Candidates currently working in the Public or Civil Service may transfer their pension.
