Maintenance Fabricator (Welding Essential)

We are now looking for a skilled and experienced Maintenance Fabricator to join our dynamic engineering team. Your Role
As a Maintenance Fabricator, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and improving our production equipment, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and high engineering standards throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabrication & Repair – Carry out high-quality fabrication and welding repairs on machinery, pipework, and structural components.
- Stainless Steel Welding – Perform precision TIG/MIG/stick welding on stainless steel equipment and pipe systems.
- Pipe Purging & Finishing – Must be able to purge weld stainless steel pipes to food-grade standards.
- High-Quality Polishing – Polish stainless steel surfaces to a high-quality hygienic finish suitable for food production environments.
- Sheet Metal Fabrication – Operate manual folders and carry out folding of sheeting accurately and efficiently.
- Preventative Maintenance – Conduct scheduled mechanical maintenance to minimise downtime and improve equipment performance.
- Problem Solving – Diagnose and resolve mechanical and fabrication issues quickly and effectively.
- Engineering Collaboration – Work closely with engineers, maintenance fitters, and production teams.
- Health & Safety – Maintain high safety standards and ensure all work complies with company and industry regulations.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven Welding Experience – Strong MIG, TIG, and Arc welding skills are essential.
- Welding Certifications Required – Relevant welding courses and certifications must be held.
- Stainless Steel Experience – Experience working with stainless steel fabrication, polishing, and hygienic welding practices.
- Pipework Knowledge – Ability to purge weld stainless steel pipe systems to a high standard.
- Fabrication Skills – Experience using manual folders and sheet metal fabrication equipment.
- Technical Understanding – Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- CAD Knowledge Preferred – Familiarity with CAD systems and technical drawings would be an advantage.
- Mechanical Aptitude – Strong background in mechanical fitting, fabrication, and machine repair.
- Team Player – Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Flexible & Reliable – Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and respond to breakdowns when required.
- Food Industry Experience – Previous experience in food manufacturing or a similar production environment is desirable.
