About ROQ
ROQ Commercial Contracting is a growing civil engineering contractor delivering specialist fencing, utilities, earthworks, site clearance and infrastructure projects across Ireland.
We specialise in large-scale fencing installations including TII specification fencing, deer fencing, stock fencing, security fencing and electric fencing systems for infrastructure, renewable energy and commercial projects.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Timber Post & Wire Fence Erector to join our team.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced fencing operative with strong practical knowledge of timber post and wire fencing systems and a high standard of workmanship.
The successful candidate must be capable of installing strainers, stays and intermediate posts correctly, while producing straight fence lines with properly tensioned wire.
A key requirement for this role is the ability to tie and staple wire neatly and securely to a very high standard.
Experience installing and wiring electric fencing systems is also essential.
This role suits someone who takes real pride in producing clean, durable fence installations and can work independently or as part of a crew.
Main Responsibilities
- Installation of timber post and wire fencing to a high standard
- Setting strainers, stays and intermediate timber posts
- Straining, tensioning and securing wire correctly
- Stapling and tying wire neatly with strong attention to finish
- Installing stock fencing, deer fencing and high-tensile wire systems
- Installing and wiring electric fencing systems
- Installing gates and associated fencing components
- Reading drawings and working to project specifications
- Carrying out fencing repairs and maintenance when required
- Working safely around plant, machinery and live sites
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience installing timber post and wire fencing
- Strong experience with:
- Stock fencing
- Deer fencing
- High-tensile wire systems
- Electric fencing
- Ability to strain, staple and tie wire to a very high standard
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to work efficiently and independently
- Good understanding of health & safety on active sites
- Reliable, hard-working and team-focused attitude
Essential
- Previous fencing experience
- Full driving licence
- Safe Pass
Desirable
- Experience with TII specification fencing
- Plant / telehandler / post driver experience
- Trailer towing experience
