Role Summary
As a Mechanical Automation Maintenance Fitter at Glenisk, you will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment across our production site is maintained to the highest standards. You will play a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly through preventative maintenance, rapid response to breakdowns, and continuous improvement of processes.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Mechanical Automation Maintenance Fitter will be based at Glenisk’s HQ.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all operational equipment is running at full capacity.
- Plan, coordinate, and schedule maintenance activities and equipment updates.
- Implement preventative maintenance programmes in conjunction with the Operations Director and maintenance team.
- Respond efficiently to all breakdowns onsite, during and after hours.
- Carry out repairs and ensure all equipment is tested before handover to operators.
- Maintain a high attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
- Promote best practices and maintain strong health and safety standards.
- Learn and understand all relevant training, machine, and equipment manuals.
- Attend required meetings and contribute to maintenance planning.
Specific Responsibilities
- Follow Maintenance and Equipment Procedures.
- Investigate and resolve technical problems as they arise.
- Assist in planning and managing maintenance within budget requirements.
- Establish planned service schedules with the Production Department.
- Liaise with contracted technical staff where appropriate.
- Stay up to date with technical developments in your field and advise management accordingly.
- Minimise wastage within the department.
- Organise work schedules to meet production requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, particularly hygiene, health, and safety requirements.
- Recommend improvements to methods of operation and working practices.
- Contribute to the creation and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a trade-qualified Mechanical Automation Maintenance Fitter, ideally in a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in TIG welding would be a distinct advantage.
- Extensive knowledge of pumps and motors.
- Experience with mechanical systems including pneumatics, electro-pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with all departments across the site.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- A strong focus on health, safety, and quality standards.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Flexibility to work outside regular hours as required.
- This position operates on a fixed shift pattern of 12:00pm to 8:00pm, Monday to Friday.
