ABOUT US

Nestled in the heart of Ireland, in the vibrant town of Tullamore, the Bridge House Hotel is one of the leading wedding venues in Offaly, perfectly located with easy access from Dublin, Galway, and Limerick.

Our luxurious four-star hotel is a family run hotel renowned across the Midlands and central Ireland for hosting unforgettable weddings, providing warm hospitality and memorable experiences for our guests. Weddings and Special Events are at the heart of what we do.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The General Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the hotel, ensuring that all guest areas, bedrooms, leisure facilities, restaurants and back-of-house areas are maintained to the highest standards. This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys practical work, problem-solving and working as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance

Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs throughout the hotel.
Complete daily maintenance checks and preventative maintenance tasks.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from departments.
Repair or replace fixtures, fittings and equipment where appropriate.
Assist with decorating, painting and basic carpentry work.
Carry out minor plumbing and electrical repairs where competent to do so.
Ensure heating, lighting and water systems are operating efficiently.
Maintain a professional, friendly and helpful manner when interacting with guests.
Complete maintenance work with minimal disruption to guests.
Support departments during busy periods where operationally required.
Assist with supervising external contractors on site.
Ensure contractors comply with hotel safety policies and procedures.
Report any issues arising from contractor works.

Grounds & External Areas

Maintain the appearance of hotel grounds, pathways and car parks.
Carry out seasonal maintenance.

Health & Safety

Comply with all Health & Safety policies and safe working practices.
Report hazards, defects and accidents immediately.
Ensure tools and equipment are maintained safely and securely.
Assist with fire safety checks and emergency procedures.
Work in accordance with Manual Handling and Safe Pass principles where applicable.

Key Skills & Requirements

Previous experience in hotel maintenance, facilities or handyman role.
Good practical knowledge of general building maintenance.
Ability to carry out basic plumbing, carpentry and painting.
Good problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Desirable Qualifications

Manual Handling certification
Full clean driving licence is desirable
Trade qualification or relevant maintenance experience
