About the Role
The role of the Buying Assistant is to provide a comprehensive and professional support service to the Buying Director / Manager. We currently have an exciting opportunity in our grocery department which is the perfect role for a dedicated individual experienced in supporting a busy team with passion for food!
Key responsibilities
- Be a category expert for your area of responsibility.
- Participate in competitor shopping and analysis with the other members of the Buying Team.
- Analyse market trends and make recommendations based on findings.
- Manage the efficient and accurate flow of correspondence and information regarding products under their responsibility.
- Research new Business Partners and negotiate with current BP’s, building positive and long-term relationships.
- Assist in the sourcing and managing exciting NPD projects (End to End).
- Work in collaboration with our Brand Team to develop best in class packaging for our range.
- Act as the main point of contact with suppliers for the products under their responsibility.
- Liaise with UK colleagues as required for products under their responsibility.
- Escalate issues to their Buying Director / Manager as required.
Essential Requirements
- Commercially minded and conscious of the impact that their work has on the wider business.
- Proven ability to work on their own initiative.
- Experience in a busy, deadline driven environment, preferably in a buying department.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and administration skills.
- Organisational skills, with an ability to stay focused on assigned tasks.
- Full drivers’ licence.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience dealing with a broad Irish Supply base.
- A genuine interest in the food and grocery sector.
- Experience working with 3rd party agencies.
- Experience working in a team environment.
