Organic Gardener required to manage our organic food producing garden in North Kildare, 27 miles west of Dublin. This will involve the growing, picking and packing of high quality vegetables, salad leaves, herbs and fruit for supply to our Farmhouse Cafe in Dublin.
You will require a good working knowledge of the cultivation of vegetables, salad leaves fruit, herbs as well as experience of propagation, succession planting/bed rotation and composting.
This is a hands on position and will also include grounds maintenance ensuring all areas of the grounds are kept well maintained, clean and tidy.
Our farm is 47 acres and we keep small numbers of cattle and sheep. We have large number of old trees and we are constantly planting some new ones so an interest in this area is an advantage.
Candidates must have a full clean driving licence and own transport. There will be company transport available for any deliveries that may need to be done from time to time. Tractor driving experience is essential as well as experience of using and maintaining a large variety of gardening tools, maintenance tools and light machinery.
Fluent written and spoken English is required as well as knowledge of Health and Safety.
You should be able to work on your own during the day and be able to organise your time well to meet the requirements of the job.
A desire to take on a widely varied role is essential and a candidate with good practical skills and own initiative will do very well.
This position may suit a couple and there may be some extra duties available for a partner depending on their skills.
Accomodation is included in the overall package with a self contained comfortable 2 bedroom loft on the grounds with utility bills also covered.
We are situated beside the Royal Canal which has been recently restored as a Blueway for cyclists and walkers. We are 3 miles from local village which has bus and train services to Dublin and the West.
Pay: €35,000.00-€45,000.00 per year
