The position oversees the daily operation of the parts department. The role is responsible for inventory control, supplier management and ensuring technicians and customers receive the correct parts efficiently and profitably.
Parts Manager Duties & Responsibilities
· Manage ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of parts
· Maintain optimal stock levels to minimize shortages and overstocking
· Conduct regular stock counts and inventory audits
· Ensure accurate stock records using dealer management systems (DMS)
· Support workshop technicians with correct parts identification
· Serve trade, retail, and internal service customers
· Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and terms where applicable
· Monitor supplier performance and availability
· Source non-standard or urgent parts efficiently
· Approve invoices and reconcile discrepancies
· Produce reports on stock movement and department KPIs
· Ensure warranty and return procedures are followed correctly
· Maintain clean and organized storage areas
· Follow company policies and manufacturer standards
Skills for Parts Manager
· Strong knowledge of automotive components and systems
· Inventory management and stock control expertise
· Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
· Strong communication and leadership skills
· Attention to detail and accuracy
· Computer literacy and experience with DMS systems
· A team player as well as being able to work independently
Desired experience for Parts Manager includes:
