This is a genuinely varied position. While a significant part of the role involves front-of-house responsibilities and coordinating patient care, we are looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable and happy to work across different areas of the practice. Full training will be provided in dental nursing duties for the right candidate, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to broaden their skills and develop within a supportive team.
About the Role
You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice by managing patient journeys, maintaining busy appointment books and supporting both patients and clinicians.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a busy appointment diary to maximise clinical time.
- Answering telephone calls professionally and efficiently.
- Responding promptly to emails and patient enquiries.
- Greeting patients and providing an exceptional customer experience.
- Processing and submitting PRSI dental claims accurately.
- Liaising with dentists, hygienists and the wider team to ensure efficient workflows.
- Supporting practice administration and daily operations.
- Assisting with onboarding and training new team members.
- Helping maintain high standards throughout the practice.
- Providing chairside support to our dentists when required.
- Learning and developing dental nursing skills through structured in-house training.
- Supporting the clinical team wherever needed to ensure the practice runs efficiently.
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working in a dental practice.
- Has an excellent understanding of dental terminology and treatments.
- Is confident managing appointment books and patient communications.
- Has excellent written and spoken English.
- Is friendly, approachable and enjoys working with people.
- Is highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Can prioritise multiple tasks in a busy environment.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
- Is proactive, adaptable and willing to learn new skills.
- Is happy to work flexibly between reception, administration and chairside duties depending on the needs of the practice.
- Has a genuine interest in developing their clinical skills through dental nursing training.
Essential Skills
- Previous experience working within the dental industry.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office.
- Experience handling patient enquiries by telephone and email.
- Knowledge of PRSI claims processing.
- Professional telephone manner.
- A flexible, team-first attitude.
Desirable Skills
- Experience using Dentally practice management software.
- Previous dental nursing or chairside experience (not essential).
- Dental nursing qualification (advantageous but not required).
- Experience training or mentoring new staff members.
- Knowledge of private treatment planning and finance options.
Working Hours
This is a full-time position.
Flexibility is an essential part of this role. As a growing practice, there may be occasions where you’ll move between reception, administration and chairside support depending on the needs of the day. Some evening and occasional weekend work may also be required.
