About the Role
We are seeking a Planning Team Lead who will play a critical role in growing capability, improving delivery performance, and shaping the future of our Planning and Delivery practice.
As Planning Team Lead / Solution Delivery Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading, developing, and growing a high-performing team of planning and delivery professionals.
You will create an environment where people can do their best work, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Alongside overseeing planning and delivery activities, you will focus on building team capability, developing future leaders, improving ways of working, and ensuring knowledge is shared and retained across the function.
Working closely with the Planning & Product Delivery Manager and key stakeholders across the business, you will help shape the maturity of the Planning and Delivery practice, driving both people growth and delivery excellence in support of laya healthcare's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Team Development

Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Planning and Delivery professionals, creating a high-performance culture aligned with Laya’s values.

Conduct regular one-to-one coaching and development conversations, supporting career progression, personal growth, and succession planning.

Set clear objectives, expectations, and development plans, ensuring team members receive regular feedback, guidance, and recognition.

Foster a culture of accountability, empowerment, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Support performance improvement through effective coaching, mentoring, and development planning.

Identify capability gaps and proactively implement learning, cross-training, and development opportunities.

Delivery Leadership & Governance

Lead and oversee planning and delivery activities across a portfolio of projects, products, and strategic initiatives.

Ensure effective governance, planning, prioritisation, and delivery practices are consistently applied across the team.

Monitor delivery performance, risks, issues, dependencies, and capacity, ensuring proactive management and escalation where required.

Work closely with stakeholders to align delivery priorities with organisational objectives and business outcomes.

Enable teams to deliver value effectively by removing impediments and improving planning and delivery processes.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning, governance, delivery effectiveness, and team performance.

Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase delivery predictability.

Establish and utilise meaningful metrics, OKRs, and performance indicators to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Champion best practices in Agile, Lean, Product Delivery, and operational excellence.
Knowledge Management & Capability Growth

Establish and maintain effective knowledge management practices, ensuring critical planning, delivery, and governance knowledge is documented, accessible, and continuously improved.

Promote a culture of knowledge sharing through communities of practice, mentoring, retrospectives, workshops, and collaborative learning.

Ensure lessons learned, delivery insights, and best practices are captured and embedded across the team.

Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Information Security, Risk Management, and Regulatory requirements across all delivery activities.

Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline.

Professional Project Management certification (PMP preferred).

Agile delivery accreditation (PSM, CSM, CSP or equivalent) is essential.

Minimum of 7 years' experience leading complex enterprise-scale projects, product delivery initiatives, or delivery functions.

Proven experience leading and developing teams, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, succession planning, and career development.

Demonstrated success in improving team performance, delivery maturity, and operational effectiveness.

Experience establishing or contributing to knowledge management, learning frameworks, or communities of practice.

Proven track record of delivering strategic initiatives on time and aligned to business objectives.

Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, Product Delivery, and SDLC methodologies.

Experience influencing and engaging stakeholders at all organisational levels.

Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
-
Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, Excel, PowerPoint, and delivery reporting tools. Experience with Power BI is advantageous.

Experience driving organisational change, continuous improvement, and the adoption of new ways of working.
