O'Gorman Brannigan Purtill & Co. (OGBP) is a progressive and growing firm of Chartered Accountants, Tax Advisors and Business Advisors based in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a motivated and ambitious Junior/Trainee Accountant to join our team.

Location: Clonmel, Co. Tipperary
Position: Full-Time, Permanent
Expected Start Date: July/August 2026
The Role
This position is ideally suited to someone who is beginning their accountancy career or is currently studying towards a professional qualification. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience working with a diverse portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors while receiving ongoing training, mentoring and support.
The role offers an excellent foundation for developing both technical and professional skills and provides a clear pathway for career progression within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation of financial statements for a range of clients
- Bookkeeping and maintenance of accounting records
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Assisting with payroll processing and related compliance requirements
- Preparation of working papers and supporting schedules
- Assisting with income tax and corporation tax compliance work
- Supporting senior staff on client assignments and projects
- Liaising with clients to obtain information and documentation
- Using accounting software and cloud-based systems
- Developing technical accounting, taxation and business advisory knowledge
Requirements
- Accounting Technician qualification, business degree or relevant studies desirable
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Eagerness to learn and develop professionally
- Previous accountancy practice experience beneficial but not essential
