Junior / Trainee Accountant

Join Our Team

O'Gorman Brannigan Purtill & Co. (OGBP) is a progressive and growing firm of Chartered Accountants, Tax Advisors and Business Advisors based in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a motivated and ambitious Junior/Trainee Accountant to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a well-established and highly respected practice with a strong reputation for client service and professional excellence. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience across a broad range of accounting, taxation and advisory services while working alongside experienced professionals in a supportive environment.

Location: Clonmel, Co. Tipperary
Position: Full-Time, Permanent
Expected Start Date: July/August 2026

The Role

This position is ideally suited to someone who is beginning their accountancy career or is currently studying towards a professional qualification. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience working with a diverse portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors while receiving ongoing training, mentoring and support.

The role offers an excellent foundation for developing both technical and professional skills and provides a clear pathway for career progression within the firm.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting with the preparation of financial statements for a range of clients
Bookkeeping and maintenance of accounting records
Preparation and submission of VAT returns
Assisting with payroll processing and related compliance requirements
Preparation of working papers and supporting schedules
Assisting with income tax and corporation tax compliance work
Supporting senior staff on client assignments and projects
Liaising with clients to obtain information and documentation
Using accounting software and cloud-based systems
Developing technical accounting, taxation and business advisory knowledge

Requirements

Accounting Technician qualification, business degree or relevant studies desirable
Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Good communication and interpersonal abilities
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Eagerness to learn and develop professionally
Previous accountancy practice experience beneficial but not essential
