Electrical TechnicianRole Overview
We are seeking a qualified Electrical Technician to join our facilities management team in Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of electrical systems and equipment across commercial properties, ensuring compliance with Irish electrical regulations and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Electrical Technician will carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, emergency lighting, fire alarms, and building management systems. You will respond to electrical faults and breakdowns, diagnose problems efficiently, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime. Conducting electrical safety testing and inspections in accordance with ETCI National Rules for Electrical Installations and maintaining accurate records of all work completed form essential parts of the role.
You will ensure all electrical work complies with relevant Irish legislation, health and safety requirements, and building codes. Collaborating with other trades and contractors on site, you will support project work and minor installations as required. The role includes maintaining electrical equipment inventories, ordering parts and materials, and providing technical guidance to junior staff members when needed.
Required Qualifications and ExperienceCandidates must hold a recognized electrical qualification such as Advanced Certificate Craft - Electrical or equivalent Level 6 qualification on the NFQ. Current Safe Electric Registration (RECI or ECSSA) is essential.
A minimum of 3-5 years' post-qualification experience in commercial or facilities maintenance environments is required, along with comprehensive knowledge of Irish electrical regulations, ETCI wiring rules, and health and safety legislation.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities are necessary, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation are important, as is proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems
Desirable Skills
Experience with building management systems (BMS), HVAC controls, and access control systems would be advantageous.
Knowledge of energy management systems and sustainability initiatives is beneficial.
Previous experience in corporate office environments or large commercial properties is valued, as are relevant health and safety certifications including manual handling and working at heights.
