Job Title Deli Assistant – Full Time Department Fresh Food / Deli Reports To Deli Manager / Fresh Food Manager Job Purpose As a Deli Assistant, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service while preparing, cooking, presenting and serving a high-quality range of fresh food products. You will work as part of a busy team to ensure the deli operates efficiently and maintains the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness. Key Responsibilities Provide friendly, efficient and professional customer service at all times. Prepare and serve hot and cold food to a consistently high standard. Prepare sandwiches, rolls, salads, wraps and other deli products. Cook and present hot food in accordance with company standards. Maintain excellent food presentation and ensure displays are fully stocked and appealing. Follow all food safety, hygiene and HACCP procedures. Check and record food temperatures as required. Ensure all products are correctly labelled, dated and stored. Rotate stock and monitor use-by dates to minimise waste. Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic deli and preparation area. Complete daily cleaning and closing duties to the required standard. Operate deli equipment safely and correctly. Assist with deliveries, stock control and replenishment. Follow company procedures regarding allergens and cross-contamination. Work efficiently during busy periods while maintaining quality and customer service. Support the Deli Manager and wider team with the smooth running of the department. Comply with all company policies, health and safety requirements and food safety legislation. Skills & Experience Essential: Previous experience in a deli, food service, catering or similar environment is an advantage. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to work well as part of a team. Good communication skills. Strong attention to cleanliness, hygiene and food safety. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Reliable, punctual and flexible approach to work. Willingness to learn and follow company procedures. Desirable: Previous deli or food preparation experience. HACCP / food safety training. Experience using deli or catering equipment.
