Structural Design Engineer Techrete

Location: Techrete, Stephenstown Industrial Park, Balbriggan, Co. Dublin

Founded in 1985 and celebrating 40 years in business this year, Techrete is the largest architectural precast concrete facade contractor in Ireland and one of the largest in Europe. Operating from our two, modern production facilities in Dublin and North Lincolnshire and with sales and design offices in London and Leicester, we offer a complete precast concrete solution from design, to manufacture, and installation.

We are now recruiting for the position of Structural Design Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to build on your career, by becoming an integral part of our engineering team.

About the Role

With our commitment to contribute to a carbon neutral environment, we continuously strive to manufacture the most energy efficient facade design possible. We achieve this through efficient use of materials together with the application of rigorous and thorough design principles. To complement our current inhouse design capabilities, we are looking to add a Structural Design Engineer to our team to assist in the design and future development of our facade elements.

Key Responsibilities

Design of unique architectural precast concrete facade systems and supporting fixings, on flag ship projects in sectors like commercial, residential, leisure , healthcare.
Working with client design teams to develop bespoke 'whole' facade solutions to suit architectural, structural and site constraints.
Liaising with the inhouse Production and Installation Teams to ensure optimum design for manufacture , transportation, and erection on site.
Working on both Concept and Detail Designs for each project.
Preparation of calculations and reviewing drawings for production.
Reporting to a Senior Structural Engineer and working with a very experienced teams of designers.
May require some occasional travel between Ireland and UK for meetings and site inspections.
Opportunity to develop your engineering design and project management skills on a variety of building types by in Ireland and UK.

About You

Ability to work on own initiative in a busy environment but with support and mentorship from the rest of the engineering team
Good analytical and numerical skills.
Good knowledge of Building Regulations.
Good communication and team building skills are required.
A working knowledge of construction & constructability practices & principles as they relate to facades.
Excellent attention to detail, written and oral communication skills.
Experience in the use of Design Software, including Structural Engineering Design Packages, AutoCAD, Tekla, Revitt, Sketch Up and Excel etc.
Experience in precast concrete industry an advantage.

Qualifications / Expertise

Education: Degree in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years' experience with specific experience in reinforced concrete and steel design.
Ambition to become a Chartered Engineer ( inhouse mentorship and training will be provided)
Experience in precast concrete industry an advantage.
Experience in the use of Design Software, including Structural Engineering Design Packages, AutoCAD, Tekla, Revitt, Sketch Up and Excel etc.
